Hearts and Republic of Ireland midfielder Glenn Whelan admits hed offers from nightclubs abroad.
Aston Villa following their promotion to the Premier League in summer time released whelan months, before joining Hearts on a one-year-contract at August after deliberating to a move overseas.
The 35-year-old confessed he consulted with prior to deciding which team to join in a bid Ireland manager Mick McCarthy to extend his international career.
Whelan said:I talked to the supervisor. I had one or two choices abroad that were really interesting.
The supervisor wasnt too keen to be honest since the league was not probably as powerful as where I am playing or at any time I was at. So he wants me attempting to play competitively as far and high as I can.
When it was down to cash I would be gone in sunlight somewhere in the minute. However, for me it has never been about cash or making a wage.
I am happy playing football and thats all that I need to do, so for me it was about getting the club for your family members and to get a chance playing Ireland.
If Ireland qualify for the European Championships their collection fixtures will probably be staged in the Aviva Stadium of Dublin and also Whelan insists when picking Hearts this was a huge factor for him.
He explained:I want to play Ireland at the Euros, therefore that I talked to a few people and I think ultimately, Hearts was the perfect choice for me.
When I spoke to the Hearts boss I told him basically I want to play so long as I am and as high as I am because I would like to get a excellent likelihood of qualifying and I would like to still be around and become a part of this.
I think itll suit me. The director at Hearts was really good for me personally, he has given me some time off to go and see the family and go and spend some time down there so it has been OK.
High in Circle currently sit however, they face tough competition from Switzerland and Denmark for the two Euro 2020 eligibility places.
Whelan added:Were still miles off [qualifying]. Weve got three massive games. Obviously the place that were in is a place that is great but we all know which can be taken away from us easily enough.
Its an important match off to Georgia. Get the ideal outcome there and that will give us confidence going in the other two, but you have to just take each game as it comes.
